This past weekend, much of the world has been shedding purple tears in honor of Prince's passing. One of the most powerful tributes to the pop idol was at Random International's buzzy "Rain Room," now installed at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

If you were on of the lucky few to enter the immersive art environment on Friday, April 22, you were greeted by a surreal flood of, yes, purple rain, the magic kind that falls all around you without ever getting you wet. For Prince, who only wanted to see you underneath the purple rain, this must have been a violet dream come true.

The Rain Room is currently closed and will reopen after conservation work on May 19. In the meantime, see images from the dazzling salute to the Purple One below.
