You’re feeling extra accomplished after giving your mirrors a scrub, but when you look back a few minutes later, instead of looking shiny and clear, the surfaces are marred with streaks. It’s a common, frustrating issue — and one that’s easily avoidable. Deanna Hains, president of luxury cleaning service Zen Home in New York, revealed her company’s tried-and-true secret for pristine windows and mirrors: “It’s not necessarily about the cleaning solutions, but the right cleaning tools,” she says. “We always use two special microfiber cloths alongside Zen Home’s all-purpose cleaner. One cloth will get wet during the process, so it is important to keep the other cloth dry.”
She broke down the process for us step by step. “First generously spray the window or mirror with all-purpose cleaner,” she explains. “Use your first microfiber cloth to clean the surface, not forgetting about the corners. Next, wait for about 15 seconds for it to dry, then polish with the dry microfiber cloth. The dry cloth will get rid of any streaks and make your windows and mirrors sparkling clean.”
