My God, we have lost our country completely. Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) stood ALONE on the House floor last night for nearly five hours reading 35 Articles of Impeachment against George W. Bush. Yet this has not been mentioned once on the US news (with the exception on MSNBC's Countdown). Why do you suppose that is? Is it because corporate America is not interested in ratings?
Surely the wave of chatter this has created in the last 24 hours since Kucinich read the first Article of Impeachment would have been good for TV ratings? What then? Are they gagged? Well, considering the war on truth we have witnessed over the last 7 years, I would not be surprised. Let's take a look at today's news from the UK regarding the massive abuse of power by the Bush administration with regard to covering up the largest war profiteering "in history" - something you will likely not hear about from American news outlets either:

A US gagging order is preventing discussion of the allegations. The order applies to 70 court cases against some of the top US companies.War profiteering
While George Bush remains in the White House, it is unlikely the gagging orders will be lifted. To date, no major US contractor faces trial for fraud or mismanagement in Iraq. The president's Democrat opponents are keeping up the pressure over war profiteering in Iraq.
Henry Waxman who chairs the House Committee on Oversight and Government
Reform said: "The money that's gone into waste, fraud and abuse under
these contracts is just so outrageous, its egregious."It may well turn out to be the largest war profiteering in history." In the run-up to the invasion one of the most senior officials in charge of procurement in the Pentagon objected to a contract potentially worth seven billion that was given to Halliburton, a Texan company, which used to be run by Dick Cheney before he became
vice-president.Unusually only Halliburton got to bid - and won.
Missing billions
The search for the missing billions also led the programme to a house
in Acton in West London where Hazem Shalaan lived until he was
appointed to the new Iraqi government as minister of defence in 2004.
Is this a "high crime?" Yes. Moreover, it is treason. Let's look at the Constitutional definition of treason for a moment:
"Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court."
You tell me if robbing the US treasury and abusing the power of the federal government to cover up such crimes from the public is not an act of war against the United States of America? Oh but this is just one of many acts of treason, to say nothing of "high crimes and misdemeanors," which originated from the single most criminal abuse of Judicial power - the 2000 Supreme Court ruling that installed and enthroned George W. Bush as puppet-princeling, fully owned and operated by corporations.
Of course attacks on the Constitution itself should be seen too as a declaration of war against the United States of America, but somehow our founding fathers thought a Congressional body would be a check and balance on a criminal Executive Branch.
Most importantly, if you interpret the Constitutional definition of treason exactly as is, at face-value, then the Bush administration's friendship with the Saudi regime is absolutely treasonous. We were attacked on September 11, 2001 (an act of war on this country) by Saudi assets, who were funded by Saudi government officials.
Giving any "aid and comfort" to the Saudis would alone constitute an act of treason. Yet the Bush administration went beyond just "aid and comfort," to a place where treason is a bottom-line decision, a state policy based on corruption and greed and a total anathema to American democracy.
The Bush administration has suppressed all investigations regarding attacks on this nation by Saudi assets, disallowed investigations into Saudi funding for the attacks, discouraged and even gagged whistle-blowers, and essentially allowed the perpetrators of the worst attack on this nation to get away with the crime. That makes George W. Bush and members of his administration accomplices after-the-fact. And why? So that the oil industry would not lose lucrative Saudi contracts? Or is it because the Saudi's paid heavily into the coffers of Bush Inc.? How does one justify treason these days?
And what of those who are privy to these crimes and say and do nothing?
In the United States, misprision of treason is a federal offense, committed where someone who has knowledge of the commission of any treason against the United States, does not inform the President, a federal judge or state Governor or judge (). It is punishable by a fine and up to 7 years in prison.
"Whoever, having knowledge of the actual commission of a felony
cognizable by a court of the United States, conceals and does not as
soon as possible make known the same to some judge or other person in
civil or military authority under the United States, shall be fined
under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both."
Surely treason is worthy of at least one impeachment hearing? No. Because what happens if the Governor (s), Federal Judge (s), State Judge (s), and members of Congress who are told of the crime (s) do and say nothing? What then? What if they violate their oath of office and their conscience in order to do absolutely nothing to defend and uphold the Constitution and the laws of this nation? What if they obstruct justice by blocking legitimate demands for impeachment hearings? Is that itself not a crime?
We - as a nation - are being buried alive by crime after crime, felony after felony, high crime after high crime, and one treasonous act after another. We are drifting aimlessly in a sea of tension and waiting, waiting for someone to do something. We have no avenues left to us, but we have plenty of flags - symbols but no substance. Where are we? What happens now?
This is what happens...
A crossing of the Rubicon, a point of no return so obvious, that all contracts between the governed and the government must be considered null and void by the former because of the criminal actions of the latter. Are we near this point of no return now?
Yes, dangerously so. I shake at the thought of what will happen when that point is finally crossed. I shake and at the same time I know, that we have been here before:
