The Sarah Palin-approved documentary titled "The Undefeated" opens at an AMC theater in Highlands Ranch and nine other cities today, July 15. Coincidentally, it's also the same opening day of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2."
While Real Clear Politics has called the movie "a sweeping epic," a member of the Washington Post's editorial board has dubbed it "The Hangover 3." Whatever you call it, it's being brought to theaters exclusively by AMC as part of it's "Independent group" effort to publicize independent films.
ARC Entertainment is handling the film's worldwide distribution, and it is being produced by the self-professed conservative Victory Film Group company.
In June, during the first public screening of "The Undefeated" in Iowa, Palin attended the film and was met by hundreds of her supporters, The Huffington Post reported.
However, the film's national release begins today and it started screening this morning in Orange County to an empty theater -- the Harry Potter premiere appeared to overshadow Palin's film, according to The Atlantic.
Other cities where "The Undefeated" will also launch are: Dallas; Oklahoma City; Orlando; Atlanta; Phoenix; Houston; Indianapolis and Kansas City.
"After screening The Undefeated, we took the unusual step of immediately exploring an expedited theatrical release, something we normally wouldn't do during the busy summer months," Trevor Drinkwater, CEO of ARC Entertainment said in a PR Newswire press release.
This is NOT a Sarah Palin fan club movie. It transcends politics and shows no mercy to either the Left or the Republican establishment. Her story is one that every mother and daughter indeed, every citizen needs to see.
Director Stephen K. Bannon, a co-founder of the National Tea Party Federation, says:
Regardless of your beliefs about Governor Palin, this story--and that's why I'm doing a PG13 version--should be shown to every young man and woman in this country about how you don't need to be connected to make your way in the world but you have to have the fighting spirit of a warrior and be absolutely relentless if you want to get ahead. And that's the theme of the story and quite frankly, I think this film puts to rest, this movie will drive a stake in the heart of the "caribou Barbie" concept. You come out of this and you understand this woman is very smart, very tenacious, and very focused.
