British boy band The Wanted made U.S. headlines last week after calling "Voice" judge Christina Aguilera "a total b----." Now, more three days after dissing the pop star, the band has clarified their initial statements.
Caught by the TMZ's cameras on Sunday, Tom Parker, who originally said the judge "wouldn't even look at us," did his best to do damage control, telling the paparazzi, "We shouldn't have said it, to be honest with you. We just think manners cost nothing, you know what I mean? The rest of the judges were really nice, and she didn't even walk over to us and talk to us. We apologize for the comment."
During the original radio appearance, The Wanted were also asked to compare their interactions with Aguilera on "The Voice" with an earlier meeting with "American Idol" judge Jennifer Lopez. The boys had nothing but nice things to say about Lopez; they even openly pined for her hand in marriage backstage.
Judging from a few of their tweets, it's clear to see that the band was completely smitten with the "Dance Again" singer. However, not so much with Aguilera. "Yeah, well J.Lo's hot, Christina's nothing special," The Wanted's Max George told radio station 92.3 NOW in New York City last week.
This isn't the first time Aguilera has come under fire for her behavior. When Justin Bieber dropped by "The Voice" to introduce a teaser for his new "Boyfriend" video, Aguilera reportedly snubbed the teenage phenomenon when her approached her for a hug.
Aguilera responded to the accusations that she was being an uninterested diva, tweeting: "Haha! The media loves spinning stories... Can't a girl have a little #BieberFever after getting kissed by the Biebs?"
The pop star was also criticized for her harsh comments toward "Voice" hopeful Tony Lucca. Aguilera called Adam Levine's contestant “one-dimensional” and called him out for possibly using his celebrity contacts -- specifically their fellow former Mouseketeer Justin Timberlake -- to turn the NBC singing competition into a popularity contest.
