You're mindlessly shaving your legs when it comes to you: the next Emmy-winning drama. Divine intervention? Nope.

The water in your shower is actually affecting the way you think. "The warm water of a shower dulls your external senses and directs your attention to your internal thoughts," says psychologist John Kounios, a coauthor of The Eureka Factor. "This state of awareness promotes creative thinking." It's why screenwriter Aaron Sorkin takes up to six showers a day when he's writing. And it's fueled Reddit's wildly popular "Shower Thoughts," with gems like "If the oldest person on earth is 116, then 117 years ago, there was a completely different set of human beings on earth." Whoa. It's time to go take a shower.
