1. Diamond Cliff Resort and Spa, Phuket
The 333-room luxury Diamond Cliff Resort and Spa is a peaceful family-friendly resort conveniently located near the gorgeous Phuket beaches. Diamond Cliff is a quiet sanctuary; its three swimming pools set it apart from other area resorts. The atmosphere is traditional Thai, simple but lush, with plenty of local character. The resort has been around for 26 years and shows some wear, but rooms are clean and lovely, with pretty Thai fabrics, gold leaf, and lots of ornate wood. For a couple-centric stay, the Romantic Suite has a lovely canopy bed, atmospheric lighting, and a whirlpool tub overlooking the ocean.

The resort is quiet and colorful, with plenty of sports and games, as well as ample opportunity for chilling out by the ocean or one of the two pools. The on-site restaurants offer a variety of world cuisines, and reservations are never required at the a la carte dining rooms. Rooms are clean and modern. The Romance Suite is decorated in a black, white, and gray color scheme, and has a hot tub for two.
4. La Torretta, Cinque Terre
The 12 rooms at the upscale La Torretta hotel are beautiful, with such elegant touches as four-poster beds and tall floral headboards. With a free evening aperitif and a couple of terraces to watch the sun set, it's a particularly good pick for a romantic stay. While all rooms are gorgeous, the Romantic Junior Suite is particularly lovely, with a four-poster bed, floral detailing, an open mosaic-tiled tub, and scenic view of the water. The bed-and-breakfast is located on the church square in Manarola, one of five fishing villages that make up Cinque Terre.

With only 90 suites, the Zoetry Paraiso offers a romantic, wellness-centric boutique experience in the Mayan Riviera. The Lovers Suite is decorated with Mediterranean-style furnishings, a chic shower, and large terrace overlooking the water. The pool area and beach are relaxed with double-wide lounge chairs (perfect for couples), and the on-site dining keeps the resort's wellness theme alive with delicious, healthy meals. With 372 rooms, Royal Turquesa is the more expensive, adult-only section of the massive all-inclusive Palladium complex, and has a more peaceful setting than its three neighbors. Notable aspects here include the swim-up suites and a prime stretch of private beach dotted with lounge chairs, hammocks, and daybeds. The main pool is smack in the center of the resort and has built-in lounge chairs and a swim-up bar. The Romance Suites have canopy beds, stocked minibars (soda, water, beer, and liquor), jetted tubs, and of course, rose petals. For an even sexier stay, book one that's a swim-up.
7. Hotel Palazzo del Capitano Exclusive Wellness & Relais, Tuscany
The 22-room Hotel Palazzo del Capitano is an exclusive upscale property set within the grounds of an ancient medieval palace. Its Romantic Wellness Suite has four-poster beds, a wood-burning fireplace, and two chromotherapy hot tubs built for two. Olive trees and fragrant plants create a relaxing, lush environment while rustic Tuscan decor blends with luxurious style. Filling out the small spa and wellness facility are hot tubs, caves, and various body treatments. Al Vecchio Forno trattoria serves creative Tuscan cuisine and offers vino from its wine cellar.
8. Grand Palladium Bavaro Resort And Spa, Punta Cana
The 674-room Grand Palladium Bavaro is spread over spacious grounds (guests also have access to two sister properties) offering 15 bars, five buffets, and eight restaurants. Walking shoes are recommended, but family-friendly amenities, lower prices than some neighbors, and renovated rooms are the big draws. Romance Suites are closer to the beach and have large Mayan showers on an outdoor terrace attached to the already huge bathrooms.
