Things My Husband Does That Drives Me Crazy

My husband is the love of my life but there are still things that he does on a daily or weekly basis that drive me completely bat-shit crazy, some in the I-am-looking-forward-to-the-padded-cell kind of way and some in the mooshy I-love-him-so-much-romantic-comedy kind of way.

Let's start with the bat-shit crazy stuff first.

1) No matter how hard I try, I cannot get my husband to do anything with his wet towel other than drape it over the glass shower. He won't hang it on the towel rail. He won't throw it in the laundry basket. Nope, it has to go over the shower door. In his mind this will make it dry and ready for the next use. In reality it just stays damp and disgusting. I have even showed him the comparison between a towel hung on the towel rail and his towel and while he smiles and nods I know in my heart exactly where his towel will be after his next shower -- over the shower door.

2) My husband doesn't disrobe; it's more like he sheds his clothes. I will find them anywhere -- from his socks lying at the front door to shirts in the lounge and if it's really hot he will leave his shorts on the couch. He always has spare clothes at work, in his truck and out in his shed. And when it comes to his wardrobe, it is not unusual for him to ask, "Is this mine?" because he doesn't recognize the clothes when they're hanging up.

3) He loves to take food out of the fridge or the pantry and make himself something to eat -- which is great, I just wish he would put it all back in the cupboard and fridge when he's finished. Oh, and while he's at it, he could wipe down the bench. That would be a little slice of heaven right there.

None of these things are a big deal and even though I am ranting about them in this article, on the whole they don't bother me that much. And here's why -- the stuff that drives me the other kid of crazy -- the mooshy, I-love-him-so-much-romantic-comedy kind of crazy -- far outweighs the minor niggles of living with another human being because I am damn sure there are things that I do that drive him both kinds of crazy too.

Here are just a few of the mooshy, I-love-him-so-much kind of crazy that he does for me each and every day.

1) He tells me how beautiful I am. Some days he comes home and says, "Hello, Beautiful." Some days he comes home and asks, "How is my beautiful wifey today?" He notices when I get my hair cut or my eyebrows shaped and tinted. He takes the time to admire any outfit I wear and tell me how much he likes it.

2) He texts me every day. Some days it is just a short text to check in and some days it is a heart-melting note to let me know he is thinking of me. Some days it is just one word.

3) He never leaves the house without giving me a kiss goodbye. Ok, there has been the odd occasion, but it has become so much a part of our routine that we both feel weird if it doesn't happen.

4) He is my constant cheerleader (and yes, I am his cheerleader too!). We all have times when we need to hear that what we are doing in life is really making a difference and he always seems to know just when I need it.

5) He thanks me for cooking dinner every night. He always has and he probably always will.

Here is the crux of the matter: I could focus on the things he does that I don't like or I can shift my attention to all the myriad ways that he shows up for me and lets me know that I am valuable to him and that our relationship is important.

I choose to see the glass as full to overflowing and that's what makes our relationship work.
