(Variety) Actor Thomas Gibson has been suspended from work on the CBS drama “Criminal Minds” after an on-set altercation with a writer-producer, Variety has confirmed.

The actor allegedly kicked a producer during filming in Los Angeles. Reps for CBS and “Criminal Minds” producer ABC Studios could not immediately be reached for comment early Thursday.

“There were creative differences on the set and a disagreement,” said Gibson in a statement provided to Variety. “I regret that it occurred. We all want to work together as a team to make the best show possible. We always have and we always will.”

Deadline, which was the first to report the incident, said that Gibson’s status on the show is “under review.” The actor will be suspended for at least one episode of the long-running procedural, and perhaps two. It is likely that his plan to direct episodes of the show this season will be nixed, per Deadline.

Gibson is also alleged to have engaged in a physical incident with a fellow “Criminal Minds” staffer some years back, according to Deadline.

Gibson has been a regular on “Criminal Minds” since its inception in 2005. He directed six episodes starting in 2013. Before “Criminal Minds” Gibson co-starred with Jenna Elfman on the ABC romantic comedy “Dharma & Greg.”

The allegations against Gibson recall the incident early last year when “Top Gear” host Jeremy Clarkson struck a producer of the BBC series during a location shoot. Clarkson was fired by the BBC after an investigation, though he and his fellow co-hosts have since reunited for the Amazon series “The Grand Tour” set to debut later this year.
