Tig Notaro Dating Video: Comedian With Breast Cancer Seeks Love In NYC

Cancer-Stricken Comedienne Makes Dating Video

The opening line of a stand-up set isn't typically used to announce a cancer diagnosis, but Tig Notaro isn't your typical comedian.

Since first discussing her possible breast cancer on her podcast and officially breaking the news on-stage, 41-year-old Notaro has been simultaneously dealing with a blossoming comedy career and having one thing every human being fears. On top of all of that, her mother recently passed away and she just got out of a relationship. If anyone could use a special person in their life right about now, it's gotta be Tig.

That's why we're not surprised to see that she put up a dating profile video on her YouTube page this week. It's a 30-second, straight-forward, black and white announcement: she's single, she just moved to New York (having left L.A. to work on Amy Schumer's new show) and she's seeking someone who's cool with cancer.

In a Q&A with NY Times Magazine that came out today, Notaro elaborates on her predicament with a life-affirming sense of humor:

"The doctor has prepared me for more weight loss and losing my hair. Dating isn’t the main focus here, but it’s fresh in my mind, because I just got out of a relationship. So I’m just sitting here, thinking, Wow, not only am I single, but I’m about to be four pounds and bald."

She’s going to be a very special girl.

"That lies to me and herself."

So far, the only video response comes from comedian Dave Hill (in which Tig makes a cameo) but something tells us her fellow (male) comedian isn't exactly what she's looking for.
