Tiger Woods To Miss British Open 2011: 'I Do Not Want To Risk Further Injury'

Tiger To Miss British Open

Tiger Woods announced on his website on Tuesday that he will miss the 2011 British Open due to his injured left leg.

He has not played since he pulled out of the Players Championship after nine holes.

"Unfortunately, I've been advised that I should not play in the British Open," he said. "As I stated at the AT&T National, I am only going to come back when I'm 100 percent ready. I do not want to risk further injury. That's different for me, but I'm being smarter this time. I'm very disappointed and want to express my regrets to the British Open fans."

Woods said last week that he has no idea when he will play in another tournament and that he will not come back until his injuries are fully healed.

According to the Associated Press, Woods replaced in the field by Brendan Jones.
