UPDATE: The European Tour has fined Tiger Woods for spitting on the green of the 12th hole on Sunday. Tournament director Mike Stewart reportedly said that "there has been a breach" of conduct. The amount of the fine has not been revealed.
Tiger apologized for the incident on twitter.
"The Euro Tour is right," he tweeted. "It was inconsiderate to spit like that and I know better. Just wasn't thinking and want to say I'm sorry."
In the final round of the Dubai Desert Classic, Tiger Woods crouched over and spit on the 12th green after missing a par putt.
"Disgusting, what he has just done there," said Sky Sports commentator Ewen Murray. "But there are some parts of him that are just arrogant and petulant. Somebody now has to come behind him and maybe putt over his spit. It does not get much lower than that."
Murray also described the spitting incident as "one of the ugliest things you will ever see on a golf course."
According to Sportinglife.com, Murray expects Woods to be fined.
Tiger went on to struggle in the final round and finish seven strokes behind winner Alvaro Quiros.
