Tilda Swinton's MoMA Nap: Twitter Reacts To The Actress' Surprise Performance 'The Maybe' (TWEETS)

Twitter Loves Tilda At MoMA

The Oscar winning actress napped the day away in a transparent box with only cushions and a jug of water near her. At first there was some confusion, as evidenced by the Tumblr account "Is Tilda Swinton Sleeping In A Box?" but the Internet soon came to an understanding. (Yes, it was true.)

The living art piece, titled "The Maybe," is a revival of a 1995 collaboration with the artist Cornelia Parker at the Serpentine Gallery in London. In the updated piece, Swinton will be taking naps at unannounced times throughout MoMA's 2013 season.

For those who don't get the significance of the project, the museum statement proclaimed: "Those who find it chance upon it for themselves, live and in real — shared — time: now we see it, now we don't."

Not surprisingly this bizarre art happening sparked a recent Twitter frenzy, full of both praise and flak for the talented Bowie doppelgänger. We scoured the Twitterverse and made it back alive, with the best 140 character commentaries on Tilda's MoMA debut.
