Tim Roth Books 'Knifeman'

Tim Roth is "Knifeman." According to Deadline.com, Roth has signed on to star in the series as John Tattersall, a self-educated surgeon who isn't afraid of breaking boundaries to unravel secrets.

David Cronenberg will direct the pilot and serve as an executive producer on the series. Sam Raimi also serves as an executive producer.

The series comes from Media Rights Capital, but no network has been named yet. Rolin Jones, woh is known for his work on "Friday Night Lights" and "Boardwalk Empire," wrote the pilot. For more on "Knifeman," click over to Deadline.com.

"Friends" veteran Maggie Wheeler -- Janice, Chandler's one-time girlfriend -- is heading to "Californication."
