Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio) was arrested in August for public intoxication, the Washington Post reports.

The Washington Post reports:

The misdemeanor case was dismissed Tuesday by a court in Rockbridge County, Va. Ryan spokesman Pat Lowry confirmed the arrest and dismissal.

The arrest occurred Aug. 25. Ryan was released on his own recognizance and later pleaded not guilty..

The Lexington Police Department did not provide any details on the arrest to the Washington Post. Lowry did confirm Ryan was in the town for a wedding.

Ryan, who has served in Congress since 2003, first declared candidacy for public office as his predecessor, James Traficant, fought criminal charges.

UPDATE 4:55 p.m.: In a statement to Politico, Lowry said it was "clear" that Ryan was not intoxicated when he was arrested in August.

“Congressman Ryan made clear at the time of the citation and ever since that he was not intoxicated, and we’re pleased that the court agreed. Congressman Ryan was found not guilty and the case was dismissed,” Lowry said.
