Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow packed nearly 4,000 people into a Las Vegas church service on Saturday. Tebow, an outspoken Christian, spoke at Canyon Ridge Church, a church that frequently invites guest speakers that are exciting or inspiring to members of its congregation, CBS4 reports.
According to Las Vegas' 8NewsNow, Tebow spoke about the "Tebowing" craze, football and his faith. "I am sure I am not the first athlete to pray though," Tebow said to the church-goers about "Tebowing." "What is funny is I have been doing this exact same routine for the last seven years and this is the first people started talking about it and it became a thing."
Tebow was interviewed by Kevin Oder, the senior pastor of the church, during four different services over the course of the weekend. Oder explained to the Christian Post why Tebow would be interviewed rather than just given the opportunity to preach. Oder said that Tebow gets "really fired up when he preaches, just like he does on the football field. But in an interview format we'll be able to get to understand him more as a person and he'll say a few things that he might not necessarily say when preaching."
KTNV reported that the main auditorium at the church seats 3,000 people, but an additional viewing tent was constructed to accommodate an additional 2,000 people.
The church did not charge attendees and was first come first serve.
