'Time Travel Lover' Is A Modern Day 'A Christmas Carol' About The Pitfalls Of Hooking Up

Imagine If You Could Time Travel To Interrupt Your Last Hookup

What if you could travel back in time to your latest and greatest hookup -- and barge in to warn yourself about the upcoming pitfalls?

This -- and more -- is possible in the high-concept short film "Time Travel Lover" from writer Elisha Yaffe, director Bo Mirosseni and producer Partizan Films. The video is officially "A Christmas Carol" gone modern-hookup culture, and it is pure hilarity.

In an email to The Huffington Post, Yaffe wrote that his inspiration for the film stemmed from wanting to explore another genre.

"I had never written sci-fi before, but wanted to try my hand at writing something grounded and observational amidst the insane and fantastical elements the genre can provide," he said.

From there, today's hookup culture provided a wealth of comedic material, but for Yaffe, though, the best element was something he didn't cover in this film.

"[For me, what's funniest is] Tinder and the limitations people have in making decisions based on social media profiles," he said.

We can only hope Tinder will make an appearance in his next one.

For now, if you love "Time Travel Lover," there's a chance you may see it on the big screen: Yaffe and Mirosseni are currently developing the short into a full-length feature.
