Why Tina Fey And Amy Poehler Will Never Make A TV Show Together

Sadly, "Parks & Rock" can never happen.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are co-stars in the upcoming movie "Sisters," terrific awards show hosts and even better friends. But despite their close relationship and tremendous independent successes on television, they've never collaborated on a TV series. Poehler had a brief guest-spot on the live episode of "30 Rock," but Fey never once appeared on "Parks and Recreation." And they haven't come close to, say, creating a series together.

Turns out that's no accident.

Fey recently spoke with the Advocate about "Mean Girls," her relationship to the LGBT community and Poehler. Fey revealed that, while she loves working with Poehler in short bursts, she finds it hard to imagine them working together on a more consistent basis.

"What makes it great now is that the only time we see each other is when we work on things -- hosting the Golden Globes, doing 'Sisters' -- so those experiences are exciting and fun," Fey said. "We’re both thrilled to be there, and hopefully that’s reflected in the work."

"She and I haven’t really talked about this, but I don’t know if we could ever do a series together," she continued. "We’re both alphas who like to do our own thing and then meet up occasionally."

Those occasional meetups are so delightful that we won't begrudge them this one. Although can you imagine the possibilities? Kimmy Schmidt meeting the ladies of "Broad City" on the streets of New York? Or Liz Lemon and Leslie Knope hitting it off at a shindig for powerful women? They could call it "Parks and Rock"! That alone is almost worth fighting for.
