Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb are currently having fun in the sun, bringing the fourth hour of "Today" to Los Angeles for two weeks -- but could they be going there FOREVER?

That's what a source "close" to "Today" told Page Six on Wednesday.

"It's also a test run to make the move to LA permanent," the source said, adding that Kathie Lee wants to be near her children and convince Hoda to join her. ("Today" denied the rumor.)

There would be a few things in the way of such a move -- both women's lives, as well as the show they work for, are based in New York, though their portion of the show is disconnected enough from the rest of the program that they could essentially film it anywhere they wanted to.

Whatever happens, "Today" will be happy to see gossip items about happy things on its show, rather than another gloomy story about ratings or the haunting specter of Ann Curry.
