Tom Cotton 2014 Senate Run Gets Early Club For Growth Endorsement

Rising GOP Star's Senate Hopes Get Early Boost

One day after Rep. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) announced he was running for U.S. Senate in 2014, he already has an endorsement in his corner.

The Club for Growth put its support behind Cotton on Wednesday, sending out a release hailing him as a "taxpayer hero and a fighter against the Obama agenda." According to the Washington Post, the Senate Conservatives Fund may also endorse Cotton.

The Club For Growth added Cotton to its endorsements list, calling him "stellar" on issues ranging from eliminating wasteful government spending, to repealing Obamacare. Cotton cruised to victory in 2012's race for Arkansas' 4th House district, defeating Democrat Gene Jeffress by nearly 23 percentage points.

Cotton now turns his attention to incumbent Sen. Mark Pryor (D-Ark.), who has already been targeted by Club For Growth. Back in February, a six-figure ad buy went after several of Pryor's votes, including support for Obamacare, the Obama stimulus and Wall Street bank bailouts.

"When you vote for Pryor, you vote for Obama," the ad closed.
