A-list actor, occasional couch-jumper and Scientology stan Tom Cruise would like to remind all of his loyal followers fans that his religion is pretty great.

The star opened up about his controversial beliefs in an interview with ITV during the “Jack Reacher 2: Never Go Back” red carpet last Thursday. When asked about Louis Theroux’s documentary “My Scientology Movie,” (set for a 2017 U.S. release) which portrayed the religion in a negative light, Cruise had only positive things to say about his faith.

“It’s something that has helped me incredibly in my life; I’ve been a Scientologist for over 30 years,” Cruise said. “It’s something, that as you know, without it, I wouldn’t be where I am. So it’s a beautiful religion. I’m very proud.”

The actor has never shied away from talking about Scientology, though behind closed doors, he reportedly doesn’t like it whenever others portray it in a negative light.

Last year, Cruise was apparently unhappy over ex-Scientologist Leah Remini’s claims about him in her book, Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology. The actress claimed Cruise tried to force her into a game of hide-and-seek (yes, really) and had a meltdown over cookie dough, among other famous tales.

Defending Scientology? It could be Cruise’s personal “Mission: Impossible.”
