Tom Ford: I Love That Jay-Z Gets A ‘High' From My Clothes

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, or so the old adage goes. But it takes a little more than channeling his likeness to make Tom Ford well up with pride.

Luckily, Jay-Z went and wrote an entire song dedicated to the fashion designer on his newly-released album, "Magna Carta Holy Grail." The tune, aptly-titled "Tom Ford," features the line: "I don't pop Molly, I rock Tom Ford." While it miiiiight not be fashion week's most kid-friendly anthem, we think it's pretty catchy.

And so does Ford. He tells WWD what a pleasant surprise it was to discover the song:

“Who would not be flattered to have an entire Jay-Z track named after them? I mean, come on, it’s pretty rare that something like that happens. It’s a kind of validation of one’s work, as it means that one has really penetrated and made an impact on popular culture. My favorite line is 'I don't pop Molly, I rock Tom Ford.' I love that he gets a 'high' from my clothes."

Jealous yet, Marc Jacobs?
