Tommy Chong Receiving Treatment For Rectal Cancer

Tommy Chong has been diagnosed with rectal cancer, the "Cheech & Chong" star told Us Weekly in an interview on Tuesday.

"I've had some medical issues lately. I got diagnosed with rectal cancer," the 77-year-old told the magazine at the 826LA 10th anniversary party in Santa Monica, Calif.

Adding, "I'm using cannabis like crazy now, more so than ever before. I'm in treatment now. I've been -- just the case either way, either I get healed or I don't. But either way, I’m going to make sure I get a little edge off or put up."

Chong, who is passionate about the decriminalization of marijuana (and served nine months in prison for selling glass pipes in 2003), had previously been diagnosed with prostate cancer and told CNN in 2012 he was treating it with "hemp oil, with cannabis."

Chong told CNN he believed his cancer had nothing to do with smoking marijuana, adding, "Cannabis is a cure."
