There's no point putting off some political commentary. It'll happen in my daily writings eventually, so might as well start today.
Remember when Shinzo Abe visited Donald in his abysmally decorated apartment in Trump Tower about a month ago to "build trust"?
There’s a lot more that could be said about this event, and that article - but that’s not the point I’m writing about here.
Why was it important for a world leader to go hang out with a guy who isn’t even sworn in as president yet?
Because there's no global elite. There's just a bunch of children in grown up bodies, with anxiety about their growing responsibilities and imposter syndrome about their positions and titles.
And government by the people and for the people is incredibly fragile.
And it's all built on personal relationships. The modern world functions because world leaders are somewhat decent at building and maintaining friendships.
There's no secret to it all. There's no guarantee that it'll work. It's about people listening, being kind, and forgiving each other as they direct entire countries and economies of hard working people who want the best for their families.
That's it.
That's what makes our civilized world possible for now. And we can never take it for granted.
