Over the years the legendary author, who turns 82 today, has made a monumental contribution to literature. From her debut novel "The Bluest Eye," in 1970 to "Song of Solomon," and the Pulitzer Prize-winning 1987 novel "Beloved," Morrison has carved out a space for herself as one of the foremost black, female writers of her time.
