Rapper "Too Short" was arrested early Wednesday morning in Los Angeles on suspicion of DUI and drug possession, reports TMZ.
Sources told the website that the rapper, whose real name is Todd Anthony Shaw, was pulled over for a traffic violation and when cops approached the vehicle, they believed he appeared to be under the influence.
When they tried to get the 46-year-old to take a breathalyzer test, the rapper reportedly freaked out and took off running down the street -- but he didn't get very far.
"He was stopped for DUI investigation, ran from officers and actually tripped and fell,” Lt. Marc Reina of the Los Angeles Police Department told the New York Daily News. "He got maybe half a block and was taken into custody there."
Sources told TMZ that Too Short came in just over the 0.08 legal limit, blowing 0.09, once police were able to administer a sobriety test, and police confirmed to the NYDN that the rapper attempted to dump the narcotics he was a carrying while in the back of the police cruiser.
This isn't the first time the rapper has landed himself in legal trouble. According to the Los Angeles Times, Too Short was arrested twice on suspicion of DUI and drug possession charges in Las Vegas in 2009, and in 2010, he was arrested on misdemeanor battery charges after a performance at an Idaho nightclub.
