I don't know about you, but I am always looking for ways to purify an area of lingering negativity. Whether that is at home, in a hotel room, or an office, I am always aware that in order to feel the good vibes, we have to dispel the bad ones. With that in mind, I set out to investigate some ways to cleanse my immediate environment. Here are just a few tools and why they may work:

Incense
Sandalwood is said to provide protection. Burn it and create a strong intention in your mind to clear the space in order to bring in healthy, positive energy.

Sage
White sage and desert sage are said to stave off negative vibrations and remove bad spirits. White sage has a sweeter, less smoky smell than other types.

Candles
Candles ignite and empower your intentions. Light a white candle in each room and pray over it or add your affirmations. Let it burn out to the end.

Sprays
There are many sprays on the market to choose from that offer a combination of ingredients that assist in purifying space. Do a little internet research and be sure to read the ingredients to ascertain what you feel is the right combination for your needs.

Essential Oils
Oils are very good for lifting away heavy emotion. Here are three go-tos:

Rose oil has the highest vibrational frequency of all the oils and protects with divine love.

Frankincense is known for purification and exorcism. It is said to remove negative influences in the body and environment.

Lavender oil clears out energies that refuse to leave a space. Traditionally this oil is used to neutralize the energies of a room.

No matter what you choose, with experimentation you will find what works for you. Above all, purifying your environment is a very empowering practice to maintain. The suggestions I've outlined here offer you options and a way to start.
