Ski season is in full swing, so why not choose a greener ski resort for your next trip to the slopes? Skiing is all about connecting with your environment, but unfortunately some companies choose to take advantage of the picturesque environment to reap a better profit. To help guide you in your choice of ski resort, The Ski Area Citizens' Coalition issued their 2009-2010 report of the best and worst ski resorts in the U.S., judging them according to different environmental criteria, which are as follow: habitat protection, protecting watersheds, address global climate change, and environmental policies and practices. SACC award points proportionally, taking into account how much of an effect the category has on the environment. Habitat protection was given the most weight in the scoring process, given the high impact ski resorts can have on the natural environment, while the resorts' environmental policies and practices were given less weight.
