Can You Name The World's Top 5 Phone Makers?

International Data Corporation (IDC) has released its quarterly Worldwide Mobile Phone Tracker report, which listed statistics for quarterly and annual growth in the mobile phone market.

According to the IDC's data, 2010 saw the mobile market grow 17 percent worldwide, its highest annual growth rate since 2006. These figures are even more impressive when compared with data from 2009, when the market shrank by 1.6 percent.

IDC analysts said that sales of both smartphones and feature phones were strong last year, and that smartphones will spur global market growth through 2014.

Though Motorola, Research In Motion, and Sony Ericsson were recently knocked off the list of the world's top five mobile vendors, IDC analyst Ramon Llamas said that these companies are poised to rebound in 2011. "Change-up among the number four and five vendors could be a regular occurrence this year," Llamas also said.
