Late this March, Miami will be packed, sweaty and full of neon.
No, it's not just the influx of college students on vacation, although South Beach is number three on STA Travel's top ten list for student spring break trips. The Miami hotspot topped traditional party destinations like Panama City Beach and Ft. Lauderdale -- and that may have something to do with the growing popularity of Ultra Music Festival, which sold out in record time this year.
College students from across the country will be flocking to Miami for the three-day electronic music festival, which takes place March 23-25 in 2012. Headliners include popular DJs like Tiësto, Justice, Avicii, David Guetta and Armin van Buuren, but hundreds of others will take the stage(s) throughout the weekend.
Certain European festivals have long dominated the electronic music scene, and some of the big ones include the ten featured here on the travel blog Global Grasshopper.
But check out our slideshow to see which U.S. music festivals -- from electronic to indie-rock -- are must-sees in 2012.
