Frito-Lay has created a limited edition “Party Safe” Tostitos chip bag that doubles as a breathalyzer.
Yup, you read that right. The special bag, which will only be available in limited quantities during the Super Bowl, reportedly comes equipped with a sensor that can detect alcohol on a person’s breath. If it determines the user is too drunk to drive, the chip bag will display a “Don’t drink and drive” message, along with a code that’s good for $10 off an Uber ride. But be warned, the code can only be used on game day, which is slated for Feb. 5.
The Twitterverse has responded gleefully to the “Party Safe” bag. Here are some of the funniest reactions:
"I swear to god the Tostitos bag said I was good to drive, officer" pic.twitter.com/hI1Cnyqm6W

I can easily see the Tostitos "too drunk to drive" chip bags getting turned into a drinking game.

I think you'd look drunk either way breathing into a Tostitos bag. https://t.co/vH8dUyvLDV

So, if you're drunk, the Tostitos bag shows a picture of red panties? #redeye

"But Occifer...they're Chiplo...Chiptol...Chelopt....Ranch flavor."
Hands against the car!"
How will you know you're drunk by blowing into a Tostitos bag? Well, the first clue is "youre so drunk you blew into a Tostitos bag".

For any of you who have doubts, proof from @Tostitos breathalyzer bag showing I am sober at work 😜👍 pic.twitter.com/MyFxnbTWT3

@LawrenceKS_PD @Fahrenthold If you vomit into the bag, that also contraindicates your fitness to drive.

@LawrenceKS_PD This is nacho average sobriety test...

@adage @Tostitos Of course, everyone who is stoned now want to drive out and get some Tostitos.

Waiting for someone to get a DUI and then blame their Tostitos bag for telling them it was OK to drive. I smell a lawsuit. And salsa.

The bag has inspired at least one similar idea:
#InMyHumbleOpinion That new @Tostitos breathalyzer bag is genius. 🤔
— Tee Party Angel (@teepartyangel) January 29, 2017
*Now we just need a Tostitos pregnancy test bag to pee in* 😆 #PointsMe
Two police departments even traded jokes:
If you have to blow into a Tostitos bag to know if you're intoxicated, for the love of all that is holy, DO NOT DRIVE https://t.co/gnTcIIL7Oj
— Lawrence Police (@LawrenceKS_PD) January 26, 2017
@LawrenceKS_PD “I’m fine to drive, officer. The chip bag told me I was under the limit.”
— RCPD (@RileyCountyPD) January 26, 2017
“Sir, I’m going to need you to step out of the car"
@RileyCountyPD "no your honor, i didn't administer the pbt, the tostitos indicated a fail."

@LawrenceKS_PD “As part of your punishment, I’m requiring you to install a tostitos bag in your car which you must blow in before driving"
— RCPD (@RileyCountyPD) January 26, 2017
@RileyCountyPD "can we stop at the grocery store? I need to refill my court ordered breath tostitos."
— Lawrence Police (@LawrenceKS_PD) January 26, 2017
@LawrenceKS_PD “Sir, leave the bag in the car. You can’t have anything in your mouth for 15 minutes. Oh, they’re cooler ranch? Go ahead."
— RCPD (@RileyCountyPD) January 26, 2017
@RileyCountyPD "Sir, you're driving in violation of your restrictions. Those are hint of lime tostitos, not original."
— Lawrence Police (@LawrenceKS_PD) January 26, 2017
And last, but not least, a word of wisdom from authorities in Hiram, Georgia:
.@Tostitos we appreciate the effort and thought that went into this, however we would prefer intoxicated individuals not drive at all.
