Totes? Cray? Kids Today Will Never Understand the Brilliance of the 'Deez Nuts' Game

The game is quite simple. You ask someone a question they might not know the answer to. They think about the answer yet cannot come up with it. So they ask for the answer and you tell them "Deez Nuts."

I never thought I would get old. I truly thought that I would always be hip with the times. I would always understand the music on the radio and always be aware of all the terminology this kids used.

Sadly I got old. I do not understand some of the music on the radio today. I do not understand some of the terminology the kids use. It just seems like kids shortened words. "Cray" for crazy. "Totes" for totally. Even as I am writing this, those words are out of date and I am still an old man.

Kids today will never under stand the greatest game of all time. They will never understand the "Deez Nuts" game.

I grew up in the 90s. Where there was not texting and the only acronym we needed was "TGIF" (Friday ABC network lineup consisting of Full House, Boy Meets World, Family Matters and Step By Step). Where Will Smith was known as The Fresh Prince and Saved By The Bell was only on Saturday mornings.

The 90s also gave us one of the greatest games of all time. It is simple yet complicated. It is offensive yet brilliant. It is stupid yet genius. It is the "Deez Nuts" game.

The game is quite simple. You ask someone a question they might not know the answer to. They think about the answer yet cannot come up with it. So they ask for the answer and you tell them "Deez Nuts."

Here is an example...

"Betty, you know what will make this day perfect?"

"What?"

"Deez Nuts!"

"Deez Nuts" refers to a man's testicles. So of course it will make any teenage boy laugh. The hard part of the game is to really think of creative questions to ask so they are truly stumped...

"Gene, have you ever been Lickon?"

"Where is Lickon?"

"Lickon Deez Nuts!"

Now, the way you say Deez Nuts also has a lot to do with the game. You cannot just say Deez Nuts. You have to extend the phrase to give it time for your audience to do the important "Ohhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!"

"Can you believe they finally got back together?"

"Who?"

"DEEEEEEEEZ NUHUHUHUHUHUTS!"

"Deez Nuts" was the end to any conversation. There was not proper comeback. You got fooled into someone telling you "Deez Nuts" and you had to take it. You could not say be quiet or leave me alone, you had to sit and realize you were subjected to "Deez Nuts."

And there was no point in coming back right away. You would never be able to pull off a "Deez Nuts" within 20 minutes of being the subject of the joke. Nope, you had to wait. And the comeback from falling for a true "Deez Nuts" joke took talent.

Adults never got involved in the game. There were no 40-year-old men playing the game...

"Dolores, you know what your soup needs?"

"What Harold?"

"Deez Nuts!"

"Huh? Why would I put nuts in a soup? Take out the trash!"

Yet, those kids in the 90' are old now. They get the brilliance of the "Deez Nuts" game.

Kids today think they are so creative with their texting and shortening of words and their Facebook! They think they are so hip because they say things adults do not understand.

Well, I am not young. I grew up in a time where Compton brought us fantastic rappers (not hip hop artists, but rappers) and we said totally, awesome, rad and crazy.

But the youth today will never appreciate the brilliance of the "Deez Nuts" game.

The greatest game of all time.
