Known for his notable roles on "The Wire" and "Paid In Full," actor Wood Harris is set to appear in his latest feature film, "Joy Road." Shot in Detroit, MI, Harris portrays the role of a defense attorney in the emerging middle class of the Motor City forced to represent his sister's boyfriend, 'Big Boy,' who stands accused of a murder. "Joy Road is one of the most important films of these times with the many layered messages vital to the future of African Americans," director Harry Davis stated in a press release.
The urban crime flick also shines light on today's private prison structure, where global corporations operate prisons for profit. "Joy Road" will premiere on October 20 at the Star Theatre in Southfield, MI, followed by October 21 openings in selected cities.
