Well this is it-the biggest, most clustered, political train wreck of this nation’s modern history. At this point it’s so bad that you want to look away, but you just can’t. Almost daily new political atrocities are committed Trumping the damage done the day before. Both conventions are finally over and we’re into the final throes of political death. Whether your candidate is is a narcissistic megalomaniac or a habitual liar, it really makes no difference-we’re in deep doo-doo.

Believe it or not, most people I talk with about their candidate don’t get upset about what I just said-because it’s true. They simply retort that at least their candidate is better than the other one. Yeesh-if that isn’t the definition of voting for the lesser of two evils, I don’t know what is. Let’s take a further look at our journey to ‘The Bottom of the Barrel 2016’.

Donald Trump came out of the politically left field and pillaged his G.O.P. rivals. The crazy part is that most Republicans I personally know have no clue what the Trumpster believes today, let alone five years ago. As I stated in my Huffington Post article back in March Mocking America Great Again , Trump’s ideals and personal values go against most of the vanguard ideology and stances the G.O.P. has held for years-yet he thrives. He rides a wave of anger and frustration that has built up inside the party for years. Call it the Tea Party Effect or whatever you want-it’s manifesting itself in the person of Donald Trump. I don’t think Donald Trump is a bad guy or a good guy. I doubt he’s even a Republican or a Democrat-he’s just an opportunistic, pragmatic capitalist who is hellbent on being the President of the United States. He’ll do or say whatever he can to get the people riled up to vote for him. He knows that even if Republicans don’t want to vote for him, they’ll do it anyway because they can’t ever vote for Hillary.

Hillary had a little scare from Bernie Sanders, but Bernie never really had a chance. The DNC was stacked in her favor and thanks to Wikileaks-everyone knows it. I’m not sure she represents all of the values of her party either. Since she’s been in politics (her whole life) she’s changed her stance on quite a few issues. Unlike Trump, she’s always been a Democrat, but she seems to go more left or center depending on which way the wind blows. Unfortunately for her, she’s been asleep at the wheel while playing Secretary of State and waiting on her turn to be President. Benghazi, deleting emails, possibly lying to Congress and/or the FBI amongst a variety of other issues has weighted her down. She’s got a definite pattern of misleading the public on issues big and small. Many old school Democrats have a hard time looking past these glaring problems, but they still won’t vote for Donald Trump, and she knows it.

Our political parties themselves are a mess. How could the Republicans have let this happen? They’ve had 8 long years to get a candidate ready and this disaster is all they can come up with? Donald J. Trump? Seriously guys? Was Trump even a Republican when Obama was inaugurated? Wow. Okay, okay-maybe Trump did hijack the Republican Party. What DID the G.O.P. actually produce?

Ted Cruz?

Jeb Bush?

Shall I go on? God forbid. The Grand Old Party IS Old and isn’t so Grand at all. It’s in huge trouble and it’s been struggling with an identity crisis since George W. Bush. Maybe the Republicans who’ve disavowed Donald Trump have some time now to worry about the midterms, or better yet-the people they supposedly serve. What has any politician in this country really done in the past 8 years? NOTHING. The debt is out of control, career politicians hold our country hostage because all they can do is argue amongst themselves and point fingers. How about working with whoever our President is and getting some things done for the people? Nah-that makes too much sense.

Unfortunately the Democrats are up the crap creek without an oar also. They’ve had 8 years and all they’ve seemed to do is massively screw up our foreign policy and argue with Republicans. I’ll give it to them that the G.O.P. has not made it easy, but we all have adversity in our jobs and at some point someone needs to take responsibility and own up. The Democratic nomination was basically handed to Hillary, which was proven by hacked emails from Wikileaks. It’s insane that the entire DNC was working for the Hillary campaign and she had a struggle at all with Bernie. They’ll have to work on the Bernie base they’ve alienated if they want to wrap this election up that Donald Trump has served them on a silver platter.

The worst part of all of this is not that something is wrong with your candidate-it’s that something is wrong with the system. This country is the home of the free and the land of the brave-except when it comes to politicians. These corrupt, career stooges from both parties are holding the country and the people hostage. Our Life, Liberty and Pursuit of Happiness is in jeopardy because of narcissistic madmen and categorical liars hellbent on power.

When will these people that supposedly work for us, actually work for us? All they seem to be good at is creating divisiveness among us while they collect great pensions and healthcare benefits they’ve voted on for themselves and destroy our healthcare and our social security system. One of our great principals is “United We Stand, Divided We Fall.” Well, we’re falling. The politicians and this country need to unite and get this country back on track. Why can’t we all just get along?
