It's happening guys! More and more programs are popping up to help you learn skills to work while traveling the world. With the growing "digital nomad" trend, (people working from their laptops and traveling around the world) and the never-ending demand for software engineers, people from all walks of life want to learn to code so they can work from anywhere. As a result, accelerated "coding bootcamps" are becoming more and more prevalent. The problem is, program fees for many bootcamps cost upwards of $15,000, and they take place in expensive cities. Just looking at the costs can be the ultimate bummer for people trying to learn skills on a budget.

Fortunately there is a new kid on the block, Codingnomads, which teaches coding boot camps around the world for a fraction of the cost of most US bootcamps. Learning how to code no longer has to happen in a college classroom or in your basement, face glued to the laptop screen. Quite the contrary - CodingNomads' upcoming coding bootcamp takes place in Bali, where students can learn to code in paradise while really living like a digital nomad. They also have upcoming courses in Europe and South America, so aspiring coders can choose their own adventure!

Why pair learning to code with travel?

CodingNomads' founders believe that software development skills can help anyone anywhere achieve economic mobility, more job opportunities, and location independence. After almost a decade of working in San Francisco's software development industry, and years of training other engineers how to code, the founders (who are also avid travelers) took their jobs on the road. They met countless other travelers who wanted to learn to code in order to keep traveling while working remotely. This inspired the idea behind CodingNomads- to help train aspiring digital nomads with skills to work from anywhere.

The team is passionate about helping people learn valuable skills in intriguing locations so students can pair education with fun travel experiences. By taking students away from their normal routine and distractions, CodingNomads believes students can learn to code quickly and comprehensively, and graduate with the skills to find work anywhere. Whether students want to work from the road as a digital nomad, or just find a job in their hometown, software developers are in high demand everywhere.

Definitely not your everyday bootcamp

Their next program starts inMarchin Ubud, Bali,at a co-working space in tropical paradise. The co-working space features two pools, an on-site restaurant and even free massages to give you breaks throughout the day.CodingNomads helps students find housing, and also offers an inclusive package that includes scooter rental, airport pickup and a pre-paid SIM card.

The program lasts for 12 weeks, which includes 8 weeks onsite and 4 weeks online. During the program, students will focus on learning Java, SQL and AWS - Java being the programming language; SQL representing the data management; and Amazon Web Services (AWS) covering the infrastructure required to run the whole show. This gives students a solid foundation in server-side software engineering that they can apply to tons of jobs worldwide. The founders note that CodingNomadsis one of the very few coding bootcamps that teaches server-side technologies, as most others primarily teach client-side (web development) technologies. This will help CodingNomads graduates stand out from other bootcamp grads, and gain access to the plethora of entry-level Java development jobs.

Skills to build your career anywhere

With the goal of preparing students for life as a software engineer, students will graduate with more than 400 hours of instruction and hundreds of practical exercises. The program also gives students tips and resources for finding work, resume writing guidance, mock-interviews and ongoing mentorship to help students in their job search. In the 8 weeks onsite, students will be in class and working on projects full-time. During the evenings and weekends the instructors encourage students to get out and experience the host country - the true "work hard, play hard" mentality that digital nomads espouse.

The 4 weeks online program is part-time, and will give students first-hand experience working as a distributed software engineering team. Together they will design and build a software application that they can use for their resume and portfolio, also training students on the online communication and project management tools used in the industry. Upon completion of the program, students will be ready to perform the tasks of a junior server-side software engineer. Specific skills that students can look forward to include:
•Designing, coding and deploying Java applications from scratch
•Launching databases, services and servers in minutes
•Reading, writing and querying data using SQL
•Integrating with remote APIs
•Whipping around command line interfaces
•And much, much more

Whether or not you have any experience coding, this program can be one that changes your life. If you are into travel and looking for more opportunities to obtain location independence and job security, CodingNomads could be your chance to do it all.
