The Trayvon Martin case has not only captured the attention of the national media, but college student media as well.
Student newspapers from around the country have chimed in with their thoughts on the killing of Martin, the fallout, media coverage and the police investigation. Martin was an unarmed 17-year-old carrying a bag of candy walking home. He was shot and killed by George Zimmerman, a self-appointed neighborhood watch captain who claimed he fired his weapon in self defense.
Some of them have chosen to discuss the "Stand Your Ground" law, which some are blaming for Martin's death. Other students took it as a chance to discuss race relations in America and what role Martin's hoodie might have played in the events.
The Indiana Daily Student featured an illustration of a white kid wearing a Hollister hooded sweatshirt under the title "How To Spot A Criminal," and discussed whether or not the hoodie was to blame. The Iowa State Daily talked about why they believed it's not a good idea to try to take the law into your own hands, discussing Zimmerman's role as a civilian. The Daily Gamecock simply talked about what it's like to lose a loved one.
