This upbeat, swinging jam is reminiscent of the necessary positive mindset that serves as a cornerstone prerequisite of a determined person willing to fight through the constant prodding of doubters in order to live a life of self-fulfillment. This story of overcoming adversity and scorning pervasive negativity is an original theme that hasn't been covered since Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger," or Jay-Z's "Dirt Off Your Shoulder," or Christina Aguilera's "Fighter," or Katy Perry's "Roar,"or Bon Jovi's "It's My Life," or Gloria Gaynor's "I will Survive," or R.Kelly's "I Believe I Can Fly." Regardless, Tay Tay is a notorious serial dater and questionably emotionally unstable ex-lover on a quest to find a relationship with a shelf life of at least one month. But as the tabloids tear her personal life to shreds and the potential bachelors pass on a relationship, T-Swift is left to pursue her dreams and ward off the "haters."

'Cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play / And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate / Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake / I shake it off, I shake it off / Heart-breakers gonna break, break, break, break, break / And the fakers gonna fake, fake, fake, fake, fake / Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake / I shake it off, I shake it off.

The repetition of the chorus represents the constant nagging, obstacles and adversity that life presents us, but Taylor Swift serves as the standard-bearer of shaking off that negativity and continuing onward with her head held high. A confident outlook and high self-esteem is all that is necessary to ward off even the most powerful degrading insults. "Shake it Off" is the mantra of any person who overcame criticism and continued to value themselves as a person of worth.
