This Is What The Death Of Tropical Storm Sonia Looks Like

It's not often you get to see the birth and death of a storm, but thanks to satellite imagery and a bit of editing, viewers can watch the formation of Tropical Storm Sonia.

Created from satellite images captured above the tropical disturbance, this 36-second animation by NASA shows the life span of the tropical disturbance from Nov. 1 to Nov. 4.

Sonia started as a tropical depression -- the 18th recorded near the Eastern Pacific Ocean during the current hurricane season -- before forming a tropical storm early Sunday. The tropical storm made landfall in western Mexico, with the storm's center hitting near the city of El Dorado. However, the U.S. National Hurricane Center downgraded the storm back to a tropical depression Monday.

There was some minor flooding and rain in the region as the tropical disturbance dissipated. According to the Associated Press, authorities said about 1,000 were evacuated due to flooding.
