HBO Inks Deal With 'True Detective' Creator, Paving Way For Season 2

Get Ready For More 'True Detective'

The case is just about closed. "True Detective" will almost certainly see a Season 2.

Deadline reports that HBO has signed an overall two-year deal with "True Detective" creator Nic Pizzolatto, who is working on a second season of the hit series.

According to Deadline, Pizzolatto is "currently preparing a draft to present to HBO executives who are expected to proceed with a Season 2 given the performance of the first installment."

A renewal for the detective series comes as no surprise. It had the highest rated series debut for HBO since 2010 and has been critically acclaimed across the board.

While a second season is all but officially announced, the next season will not feature current stars Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey, since each season is self-contained.

"True Detective" airs Sundays at 9 p.m. EST on HBO.
