Americans watching the first 2016 presidential debate between former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and real estate developer Donald Trump on C-SPAN Monday night were treated to several incredibly awkward minutes of silence before the debate began.
Moderator Lester Holt’s mic was on, so there was a lot of shuffling of papers and occasional chatting.
