Donald Trump keeps his friends close, at least on Twitter.
He boasts almost 6 million Twitter followers, more than any other presidential candidate. But the Donald dishes out "follows" sparingly. So far, he's bestowed the honor on only 50 accounts.
More than 10 percent of the accounts Trump follows are affiliated with Fox News, Reuters pointed out today.
Trump has a complicated relationship with Fox. He feuded with the right-leaning news organization last week, eventually refusing to participate in Thursday's Republican presidential primary debate hosted by Fox. The news agency and real estate mogul have since reconciled.
Feud or no feud, Trump's willingness to follow Fox-affiliated accounts on Twitter typifies the love-hate relationship Trump seems to have with Fox.
What does it take to get a Twitter follow from Trump if you don't work for Fox? Well, if you aren't a part of Trump's immediate family, you could try becoming an outspoken supporter. But even then, you're unlikely get a follow.
Trump follows people affiliated with his campaign, family members and most (but, strangely, not all) of his real estate concerns.
But as with all things Trump, there is some madness amid the method.
Trump follows a seemingly random handful of musicians and athletes, including retired basketball star Magic Johnson and former Aerosmith front man Steven Tyler. In October, Tyler told Trump to stop playing the Aerosmith song "Dream On" at rallies. Surprisingly (or maybe not), the incident didn't result in an un-follow.
