Trump or Me

You say: “It’s not you I cast aside when I cast my vote for Trump.”

Trump or Me

You say: “Your double bind is false equivalency: I Vote for Trump and I Love You.”

Trump or Me

You say: “Public defense is not private offense. My private ballot doesn’t disenfranchise our public kinship.”

Trump or Me

You say and say and say but do not see that the choice, if you claim kinship or friendship, is no choice at all. You choose me and every me who is a citizen of our compassionate, tolerant, plural, just nation.

Trump or Me

I say: “First-rate intelligence is not the ability to hold two contradictory truths at the same time. Trump’s truths, by your vote now your truths, are not self-evidently equal.”

Trump or Me

I say: “Not Both/And but If/Then.”

If You say: “You are my daughter, my wife, my granddaughter, my mother, my sister, my friend, my colleague, my fellow human being working towards the great promises of this country’s inception—”

Then I say: “Your Trump vote is not for a difference of opinion but for a difference of being.”

Then I say: “Cast your vote for Trump and reveal your heart’s secret ballot which holds me in contempt like Trump holds me in contempt. Will you call me “Miss Piggy” and a “dog,” grab my p----y, and hold that the natural consequence of men and women in close quarters (i.e., the military, the boardroom, the classroom, the bedroom) is rape? Will you laugh off my sexual assault as mere locker room behavior? Will you invalidate my informed opinion, say I am unhinged because I am Bipolar? Will you mock my disability or better, build a wall to keep me out? Will you cast aspersion on my friends who are my family and are black, Latino, Muslim, gay? Will you tell my daughter that men have the right to assault her merely because they are men and she is theirs for the taking? Will you tell my son that the world and all of its plunder is his merely because he is a white man?

Trump or Me

If You say: “It is not about you.”

Then I say: “You’re right. It’s about you. This suffragette will not suffer your choice. Ally with hate and lies and you are no ally of mine.”

Trump or Me. No false equivalence but truth: Trump or Hillary. Unequivocally Hillary.
