With the announcement that Steve Carrell will not be returning to The Office as Michael Scott, another beloved character bites the dust. Michael may be succeeded by Dwight as the Office boss, but the show will never be the same.

Throughout the years, there have been many TV characters we've let into our lives and grown attached to, only to have them unexpectedly disappear with a sudden 'job opportunity' or 'vampire attack.' It's either the character, who's killed off or sent away in a plot twist, or the actor, who's been fired for acting out or is leaving in an attempt to move on to bigger and better things (whether or not that actually works out for them). The series usually continue without them; sometimes it works, more often it doesn't.
