TWENTYWONDER 2012: The Third Annual Carnival Of The Mind Is Back (VIDEO, PHOTOS)

PHOTOS: Getting Down & Dirty For A Good Cause

The annual carnival of the mind, TWENTYWONDER, is back for its third year of throwing together music, science, art, derby and madness -- all for a great cause. Hosted by the LA Derby Dolls, the proceeds from Saturday's event will benefit the Down Syndrome Association of Los Angeles' efforts to support those born with Down syndrome living in our city.

Some of Saturday's performances and attractions include a match between the LA Derby Dolls and the San Diego Derby Dolls, performances from Mexican wrestlers Lucha VaVOOM and acrobats Cirque Berzerk, the world’s loudest string quartet, the world’s foremost hula hoop artist and much, much more.

This year's carnival will salute the recent announcement of the so-called "god-particle," the Higgs Boson, by explaining how it actually works. The demonstration will combine "electrons" and "protons" on roller skates, the world's top hula-hoop artist and a hapless UCLA physicist for what's sure to be another explosive collision of art, music and education.

Last year's TWENTYWONDER fundraiser raised over $100,000.

The event takes place Saturday, July 7 at the Doll Factory in downtown Los Angeles. General admission tickets are $42 and a VIP Special Pass is $152. Tickets can be purchased here. Doors open at 6 p.m.
