eBay User Trying To Sell Expired Twinkies For $15,000 (PHOTO)

Twinkies return to store shelves across the country Monday, but that's not stopping a few collectors from trying to sell off old supplies at ridiculously high prices.

How ridiculous? An eBay user is offering a box of 10 Twinkies for $15,000. (The typical box costs roughly five dollars, according to the AP.) Sure, the Twinkies have been expired since December, but it's a "collectible." Here's the listing:

Other collectors are being a bit more rational in their pricing scheme, but still appear to think there is a market to sell Twinkies way above their retail price:

The fate of the Twinkie was thrown into jeopardy last year after Hostess, the company that makes the famous treats, went bankrupt. This quickly led to mass Twinkie hoarding, with the snacks on sale for as much as $200,000 at the time.

Twinkies will be returning to store shelves with a different recipe, and so technically will be distinct from the boxes collectors are attempting to sell online. That said, we have a feeling that anyone trying to sell their boxes of expired pastries for more than the current retail price will be sitting on that investment for quite some time.
