GE Freedom Report: Fake Twitter Account Mocks GE's Tax Avoidance (PICTURES)

Twitter Parody Account Mocks GE's Creative Accounting

After a New York Times story reported that due to some creative accounting, General Electric paid $0 in American taxes in 2010, GE's most prominent defender has been an unverified account known only as @GEpublicaffairs on Twitter.

Enter @GEfreedomreport, a parody Twitter account lampooning the scandal that appeared yesterday. The account, whose author is not publicly known, portrays GE as cartoonishly wealthy bureaucrats unable to process the idea that such tax avoidance is unacceptable.

Last year, the Twitter account @BPGlobalPR similarly satirized BP's clumsy reaction to the oil spill to great comedic effect and attention from the media.

Here are some of our favorite tweets from the GE parody account so far.
