Twitter Traffic Surpasses NYTimes.com, WSJ.com In April

PaidContent notes that for the month of April, Twitter surpassed both the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal in unique visitors, according to Compete data.

PaidContent attributes Twitter's surge to three factors: the Oprah bump, increased attention over the Ashton Kutcher vs. CNN race, and "non-stop coverage from tech and media blogs."

In April, according to Compete, Twitter drew 19.4 million unique visitors, while NYTimes.com drew 15.6 million and WSJ.com drew 12.2 million. This was Twitter's second month topping WSJ.com but its first beating the New York Times. In March, Twitter drew 14.0 million unique visitors, while the Wall Street Journal website drew 12.0 million and the New York Times site drew 16.7 million.
