When UK couple Lauren Lane and Daniel Welch found out that their wedding venue had closed permanently just six weeks before their February wedding -- taking their deposit of about $7,000 with them -- they were devastated.
The bride-to-be reached out to the Twitterverse, desperate for help. She tweeted: "Help needed with aspects of our wedding after venue goes bust with 6 weeks 2 go & with our £4.5k!"
She received an overwhelming response: Twitterers donated everything from jewelry to a wedding cake to a new event planner. On Tuesday, the newlyweds shared a video of their Twitter-sourced wedding, via Twitter, of course.
The bride told The Guardian that she was surprised that her "dream wedding" came true as a result of her tweet. "I had gone on Twitter on the off-chance that someone might be able to help us but it just went mad," she said. "It was a lovely wedding and I cannot believe how many people and businesses came forward to help us -- it was amazing."
