Two Bodies Found Buried In Manure On Gary Horse Farm

Police in Gary, Indiana are waiting for autopsy results to determine how two people found buried in a pile of horse manure Sunday were killed.

Two bodies were discovered wrapped in plastic and buried in a giant pile of manure on a horse farm within the city limits, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

CBS gives more details of the investigation, which began Sunday morning when a man boarding his horse at the stable saw a human foot protruding from the dung pile. Gary Police and Sheriff's Department officers then donned rubber gloves and blue booties and dug into the mound to find further remains. A second body was found, also partially wrapped in plastic. There were also many other bones, but "the large size led police to determine that they are probably horse remains," FOX Chicago reports.

Very little identifying information about the bodies could be gleaned prior to autopsy, according to ABC. One victim appears to be a white male, but the other's race and sex are unknown. It's also unknown what their respective causes of death were, when they died, or how long they'd been buried in the pile.

The farm where they were found, on Mississippi Avenue just west of a major interstate juncture, boards around 15 to 20 horses, and is also home to chickens and goats.
