Tyra Banks Welcomes Baby Boy Via Surrogate

Welcome to the world, York Banks Asla!

Move over, Saint West. America’s Next Top Baby has arrived.

In a surprise announcement Wednesday, Tyra Banks revealed the “miracle” birth of her and boyfriend Erik Asla’s son via surrogate.

“The best present we worked and prayed so hard for is finally here,” the 42-year-old supermodel shared on Instagram with a photo of a baby’s striped beanie. “He's got my fingers and big eyes and his daddy Erik's mouth and chin. As we thank the angel of a woman that carried our miracle baby boy for us, we pray for everyone who struggles to reach this joyous milestone. York Banks Asla, welcome to the world.”

Over the years, Banks has spoken extensively about her desire to be a mom.

Last year, the “America’s Next Top Model” host revealed that she'd been undergoing IVF treatments.

“When I turned 40, the one thing I was not happy about is that I did not have kids,” she said in September. “I’m like, ‘Damn, the clock is ticking!’ Since I was 24, I used to say every year, ‘I will have kids in three years.’ I kept saying it over and over again, because my business is very entrepreneurial. I'm not for hire, so I have to do everything. I kept trying to find that time for that to happen. When you're like, ‘OK, I'm just going to do it,’ then it's not so easy as you get older. I've had some not happy moments with that, very traumatic moments. It's not something that can just happen.”

Banks and Asla, a Norwegian photographer, have been dating for over two years. The couple reportedly met on the set of Norway's version of “Next Top Model.”

Congratulations to the happy pair!
